The oldest symbols often associated with the Celts are spirals. Spirals appear in many forms in Celtic Art. Newgrange in the Boyne valley, a  5,000 years old Site inspired the BdeS spiral collection.

The Spiral is a sacred symbol that represents the journey and change of life as it unfolds.

It represents  growth and evolution… also eternity and continuity. It is one of the most common symbols found on stones created by ancient peoples.

The standing stones dotted around the Dingle Peninsula are another  example of the significance of spirals : Riasc, Aglish, Fionnán , Ardmore & The Ogham Alphabet Stone

The Celtic Christian illuminated manuscripts such as The Book of Kells has also inspired the BdeS Spiral Collection
