Meet the Team
Máiréad de Staic (nee Mullins)
Where are you originally from?
Máiréad de Staic: I’m from High Street, Killarney, Co. Kerry
My parents Tom and Mary Mullins ran a thriving family business in Killarney.
The business included a grocery shop, a bar, a restaurant and a guest house.
There was a very large counter in the shop. No self service in the 1940s.
My mother always quoted “A yard of counter is better than a small farm”
As children we all helped out in the business.
Opening our small business Brian de Staic Jewellery in Green Street, Dingle in 1981 was second nature to me.
A qualified creative jeweller and a secondary school teacher with a head for business - a great team!
If not from the Peninsula - what brought you here?
Máiréad de Staic: I fell in love and married Brian.
What area do you now reside in?
Máiréad de Staic: Corráille, Baile na nGall. Our house is situated opposite Com an Lochaigh.
What is your favourite part of the job?
Máiréad de Staic: I love meeting our customers old and new.
I enjoy marketing Brian de Staic Jewellery on all platforms.
What are you most proud of?
Máiréad de Staic: My family, my husband Brian, our sons Seán, Dara and Cian. Megan and our granddaughter Fiadh.
I’m also proud of the business we’ve created over 40 years ago.
Tell me something I would never guess about you?
Máiréad de Staic: I was interviewed live on QVC USA in 2004.
QVC USA who broadcasts to more than
230 million global households was a major opportunity for the BdeS Company.
Any other information you'd like to share?
Máiréad de Staic: I’m so happy to live in magical Corca Dhuibhne, on the West coast of Ireland.
I love the Irish Language, Irish poetry, music, dance and song.
