Breacadh an Lae, the first light of the dawn.
This unique piece of jewellery from the hand of Brian de Staic, Dingle's master goldsmith, inspired by the winter solstice at Brú na Bóinne, Newgrange, where since 3,200 BC the rays of the rising sun enter the roof-box once a year to illuminate the inner chamber. It is 3 dimensional, a technique that took years to perfect.
The winter solstice at Newgrange when the rays of the rising sun illuminates the inner chamber is the inspiration for the piece.
Newgrange is a 5,200 year old passage chamber located in the Boyne Valley. The winter solstice (mid December) at Newgrange is the inspiration for this piece.
The 3 dimensional piece attracts the light like the rays of the rising sun in Newgrange.
This beautiful pendant is crafted in sterling silver and 14k gold and has been Irish hallmarked by the Assay office at Dublin castle. It comes on a standard 18 inch chain. It is presented in a beautiful Brian de Staic display box.
