THE STORY:
The winter solstice at Newgrange when the rays of the rising sun illuminates the inner chamber is the inspiration for the piece. Breacadh an Lae means Daybreak.
The oldest symbols often associated with the Celts are spirals.
Spirals appear in many forms in Celtic Art, but the earliest examples were carved on stone monuments such as Newgrange, in The Boyne Valley. A 5,000 years old Megalithic site.
At dawn on the shortest day of the year the sun enters through the rooftop and illuminates the passage & the chamber. The passage and chamber are aligned with the rising sun at the winter solstice
The 3 dimensional piece attracts the light like the rays of the rising sun in Newgrange. Another original work of art from Ireland’s Leading Goldsmith.
